Electric Traction Elevators (With Machine Room)
Elevators driven by a machine motor group or a synchronous motor group, installed in accordance with the EN 81-1 standard, are generally referred to as electric elevators. Electric elevators can be subdivided into subcategories based on their drive mechanisms: friction-driven via a drive pulley, drum-driven, or chain-driven elevators.
Generally, the elevators used in buildings are friction-driven elevators with a drive pulley. Due to their limited usage, drum-driven and chain-driven elevators are usually not considered. Although they generally share the same characteristics, the classification arises from whether the drive system is located inside the elevator shaft or in a separately constructed machine room.
